Angler's Paradise Itinerary
There's always a catch... Day One & Two: Garston –Athol – Five Rivers Base yourself at Nokomai Valley Accommodation or Five Rivers Retreat and spend a few quality days fishing on the Upper Mataura River. Explore different areas of the river yourself or with a guide. Gain exclusive access to some of the remoter parts of the river through Nokomai Valley fishing guides by 4wd or helicopter. |  |
Day Three & Five: Gore - Mataura
Continue down SH1 to Lumsden and then on SH94 to the town of Gore, “Trout Fishing Capital of the World”. Gore, with its strategic location on the lower Mataura, is an ideal location to base yourself for several days of quality fishing. Go it alone or take along one of the local guides who, although won’t guarantee a catch, will guarantee an immensely enjoyable fishing experience.
Day Six & Seven: Bluff – Stewart Island
Bluff and the south coast have long been famous for its delicious Bluff Oysters and blue cod. You can take a day’s fishing trip with Mana Charters from Bluff out in the waters of the Foveaux Strait. Or, make your way over to Stewart Island and take a fishing day trip with Aurora Charters or Lo Loma Fishing. The experienced skippers and crews will take you to the best spots and you might be taking home some blue cod for dinner.
