Coastal Otago/Southland

A marketing alliance has been developed between two Regional Tourism Organisations, Tourism Dunedin and Venture Southland Tourism, under the umbrella of Coastal Otago/Southland.

This marketing alliance is important for long-haul international marketing projects, as it is more effective to present New Zealand in ‘bite-sized’ chunks to international visitors and off-shore trade. It is also a cost effective marketing option.

The alliance targets the UK, Europe, North American and Japanese markets focussing on wholesale and inbound agents who specialise in selling New Zealand. We attend Tourism New Zealand led roadshows called Kiwilink, as well as visiting wholesale trade in these major markets annually.

The highlights within Coastal Otago/Southland are:

• The Otago Peninsula - amazing wildlife in its natural habitat, Seals/Yellow-eyed penguins, sea lions, Albatross
• Dunedin, heritage and culture
• The Catlins, stunning scenery, wildlife at its best, short walks
• The Southern Scenic Route, the touring route that takes you from Dunedin through the Catlins, Invercargill and on to Te Anau and Milford Sound
• Stewart Island, bird life, walking on Ulva Island
